Who is Shaun Whelan and what is Johnny 7?
Shaun Whelan set up Johnny 7 Promotions to provide quality acts and shows and theme nights to the entertainment industry.
It was inevitable that Shaun would end up in entertainment, since his parents, Malcolm & Mary, were European Roller Skating Champions in 1956 and came 2nd in the World championships in Bologna,Italy, in 1957.
Shaun did his first gig, along with his brother Andy, with their band, Prairie Wind in 1976 as support act to the Stylistics at the world famous Batley Variety Club.
He then became bass guitarist with Opportunity Knocks winning band Whitticombe Fair in 1982.

After years of working the northern club scene, he then went behind the scenes as Tour and Production Manager with chart toppers Black Lace. This lead to touring extensively throughout the world along with the likes of Smokie, Sweet, T-Rex, The Drifters, Bucks Fizz, Bay City Rollers, Edwin Starr, Jimmy Ruffin, Bob Monkhouse, Ken Dodd, Albert Lee - the list is endless.
In 1997, Shaun along with his brother Andy and a couple of other singer/songwriters, Bryan and Stu, set up the Eagles tribute band the B'Eagles who are now very highly regarded on the U.K. theatre circuit.
This led to Shaun being approached by many other artistes asking him for his services, hence setting up his own promotion and management company was inevitable and Johnny 7 was born. (Johnny 7 being his 70's DJ name).
